In 2020, the Louisiana State Legislature hired Dynamic to detect and remove COVID-19 pathogens at the Louisiana State Capitol building during the pandemic. Our team discovered microbial contamination throughout the building, including in its HVAC system, and acted quickly to protect lawmakers, staff, and the public. With a legislative session quickly approaching, we deployed advanced microbial remediation technologies and preservation methods to deliver a safer environment on an accelerated timeline.

Our Work

Dynamic conducted comprehensive air and surface testing to measure contamination levels. We then applied the ClearShield® Pathogen Defense system: deep cleaning followed by disinfectant application, biostatic protection, and ongoing surface maintenance. Our crews also installed Aerus ActivePure® systems in the Capitol’s air handlers and high-traffic spaces. These NASA-developed purifiers run continuously to neutralize viruses, mold, and bacteria.

Overcoming Challenges

Our team balanced the need for pathogen elimination with the responsibility to preserve historic features of the Capitol. We used specialized methods for murals, brass fixtures, and marble, while sometimes relying on gentle products like household dish soap instead of stronger chemicals that risked damaging fragile surfaces. To keep government operations on track, we scheduled all work across three weekends, mobilized quickly, and coordinated every step with Capitol staff.

Lasting Impact

Independent lab testing confirmed that Dynamic eliminated all detectable COVID-19 contamination. Our installation of continuous purification systems created lasting protection beyond the project timeline. We also established a monitoring and maintenance program that equips the Capitol to safeguard public health for years to come.
